Signature Therapeutic Yoga Workshops

Low Back Pain, Neck and Shoulder Tension and Stiff Tight Hips - OH MY!

Join us for 1 or all 3 Sunday workshops, led by Becca Impello, PT and Yoga Therapist. Each Sunday afternoon workshop will be focused on a specific area of the body with yoga, education and instruction to help keep you healthy and feeling good.

Sunday, September 27th - Yoga for Low Back Bliss 4pm - 5:30pm

Almost everyone has experienced low back pain, stiffness or tightness. This workshop, led by Becca Impello, PT and Yoga Therapist, focuses on nourishing the low back with both stretches that create more mobility in the spine and strengthening poses that support good posture and daily function. This class is a good yoga starting place for someone with low back issues, and an excellent way to learn important fundamental movements and exercises that can help maintain and improve lower back comfort and function in daily life. This class is an extended practice opportunity to give you ample time to listen and learn from your body and be unhurried in the practices of movement, breathing and relaxation. Appropriate for folks who can get up and down from the floor with use of a chair if needed.

Sunday, October 25th - Yoga for Neck & Shoulders 4pm - 5:30pm

The neck and shoulder area of the body can hold a lot of stress and tension and when it’s not moving or feeling well life can be a struggle. This workshop with Becca Impello, PT and Yoga Therapist, includes explanations and demonstrations of shoulder blade movements and guided sequences to help mobilize and strengthen the neck and shoulder region. Gentle restorative positions using a simple rolled blanket finish out the practice with relaxation and breathing. Leave feeling empowered with simple practices to keep your neck and shoulders feeling and functioning better. This workshop is appropriate for people who can get up and down from the floor with use of a chair if needed.

Sunday, November 22 - Yoga for Healthy Hips 4pm - 5:30pm

Do your hips often feel stiff, tight, cranky, despite plenty of stretching? Our hips joints need more than just stretching to keep them healthy and feeling good. This workshop with Becca Impello, Physical Therapist and Yoga Therapist, will educate you on the movements and mechanics of the hip joint, the relationship of the hip to the low back and how to incorporate targeted hip strengthening. And there will be plenty of great hip stretches as well. This workshop is appropriate for people who can get up and down from the floor with use of a chair if needed.

Please consult your physician before beginning this or any exercise. The instructions in this workshop are not a substitute for medical treatment. If you are experiencing new or worsening pain or have had surgery in the last year please consult your doctor.

Meet Becca

Becca discovered a fascination with the human body’s physical structure and ability just after college when she became a fitness instructor. This fascination led her further to the study of Physical Therapy, which she has been practicing in Birmingham since 1999. Becca simultaneously discovered yoga which fulfilled her desire to tune in to her own body and mind and revealed to her a wealth of therapeutic benefits. Her Physical Therapy practice evolved to using more breath and body awareness, and therapeutic modifications of yoga poses, and she became a certified yoga therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She has developed and led numerous yoga and mindfulness workshops, professional trainings and retreats. Becca also works with clients one on one for individualized yoga instruction to address acute or chronic issues, learn modifications for safe entry into community classes, or develop a personal practice.
