In The Absence Of The Ordinary: Soul Work for Times of Uncertainty
In The Absence Of The Ordinary: Soul Work for Times of Uncertainty by Francis Weller
For six weeks this fall, we’ll journey together through Francis Weller’s compelling collection of essays on change and sacred transitions–a book described as “precise medicine for this time.”
A psychotherapist and self-described soul activist, Weller invites us to face the anxieties, uncertainties, and thresholds of 21st-century life with courage, compassion, and community. Drawing on ancient practices of ritual, initiation, and Indigenous wisdom, he bridges timeless traditions with the realities of modern life, offering grounded and accessible practices for navigating change.
More than a guide for surviving difficult seasons, this book reminds us of the possibility that emerges when we gather to reflect, learn, grieve, and grow together. In a culture that often urges us to move faster or go it alone, Weller offers a different invitation: to slow down, tend to what is unfolding within us, and discover what it means to become more fully alive.
