The Magic Box Workshop
With Dariana Dervis
It’s time to think inside the box.
Turn an upcycled Altoid tin into a tiny world of your own. In this session, you’ll build a miniature shadowbox collage filled with the small things that hold meaning for you.
Bring your own tiny treasures: 3-D animals, trinkets, toys, keepsakes, keys, stones, scraps of fabric or paper, photographs, or any imagery that speaks to you. Or simply choose from the materials we’ll have on hand.
A note on size: everything needs to fit inside a box about 3.5" wide × 2.25" high × 0.75" deep, so think small, flat, and layered.
When you’re finished, you can wire your box to hang on the wall as a tiny work of art, or keep the lid so it opens to reveal the imagery inside, like a little secret you carry with you.
A creative way to spend your Saturday afternoon!
When:
Saturday, December 5th 1:30 - 3:30pm
What to Expect:
You’ll experiment with combining 2-D collage and 3-D objects in a small shadowbox, using everyday items and single-use packaging. We’ll look at color, composition, and pattern as design elements, explore glue options, and learn how to wire the back of your box for hanging, if you’d like.

$25 per person, or $45 for two registering together (adult & child, couples, or friends)
What to Bring:
Optional: Bring your own tiny treasures to glue into the box such as 3-D animals, trinkets, toys, mementos, papers, scraps of fabric, keys, rocks, meaningful imagery or photographs.
